Why I’m Deleting Instagram and Building My Own Personal Website

I decided to build this website because over time I was noticing that social media was starting to feel more and more like a bad place. Don’t get me wrong, social media has its perks – mainly the ability to connect with others and stay up to date with their lives – but when I was using Instagram I was noticing a lot less of the connection and a lot more doom-scrolling through accounts that I didn’t follow, endless ads popping up, and an algorithm deciding what I should see next. The benefits of social media were starting to be overshadowed by the downsides.

One of the main reasons I wanted to make this shift was to take ownership of what I share. On social media, it can feel like your posts and memories don’t really belong to you anymore—they’re owned by big companies that use them to sell ads or push out more content. That doesn’t sit well with me, especially when those posts and memories represent important moments in our lives but get reduced to nothing more than just a way for big companies to make more money.

We’ve all noticed by now that social media rarely show you the posts you want to see. You’re bombarded with endless videos and memes you never asked for, and meanwhile, updates from friends and family get buried in the feed. It’s designed to keep you scrolling, not to help you stay connected in a meaningful way.

Plus, I wasn’t a fan of the constant limits: short captions, photo size restrictions, and rules about how long your videos can be. It felt like these platforms were built for bite-sized content, not for thoughtful posts or deeper conversations.

So, I decided to carve out my own little corner of the internet. It’s a simple, personal space where I can share updates and stay connected with the people who matter most – no algorithms or filters – just me, sharing updates on my life in a space that I control.

For friends and family, I hope this becomes a cozy corner where you can catch glimpses of what’s going on in my world – one post at a time.

If you’re here, you’re part of that circle – and I’m glad you’re here.

My plan is to continue to post life updates on my website – things like my travel and photography. I also plan on writing more, covering topics like productivity, finance, art, culture, science, and anything else that I feel like expressing an opinion on.

I hope this space can be a cozy spot to catch up, share stories, and maybe even have some more thoughtful conversations along the way. Thanks for stopping by – I’m glad you’re here!

Some of the content on this site will require a user account to access. This is just to keep my website private and ensure a more personal space. Rest assured – I’ll never sell or share your personal data. It’s only for creating a more secure space for us to connect.
